Released in 1975 and produced until 1983, these unique lenses were the first high speed (T1.4) cinema lenses ever produced. Coated with Zeiss' famous T* multicoating, these lenses are small, lightweight, with a pleasing vintage cinema look. The first filmmaker to purchase a set of these lenses was Stanley Kubrick, albeit not in time to shoot the candlelight scenes of "Barry Lyndon". The unique reuleaux triangle shaped bokeh is a giveaway that these lenses are in use, and can be seen in stopped down scenes in such cinematic masterpieces as Kubrick's "The Shining" and "Full Metal Jacket", as well as Kaufman's "The Right Stuff". This 3 bladed aperture shape was used only on the MK I version of these lenses (three versions were produced in total)
